Austin, TX March 2010 Sales Up 24%; Average Prices Up 2%

Things are getting interesting in the Austin Real Estate market this spring. As the expiry of the $8,000 first-time buyer credit and the $6,500 move up credit looms, many buyers moved quickly to take advantage of low interest rates and the government incentives.

On the flip side, quite a few sellers are taking advantage of the improved market conditions to flip investment properties or to "move up and lock in" with an attractive interest rate while their purchasing power is high.

Some key numbers:

  • 24% Increase in Year On Year sales for March
  • 47% increase in homes under contract 
  • 2% increase in average sale price
  • Days on market down from 12 weeks to 10

Southwest Austin Food News: Kerbey Lane, Five Guys, and Mandola's Coming To MoPac and William Cannon in 2010

Well, those of use living in Southwest Austin seem to get luckier by the day. While a couple of years ago, it was tough to find casual food in our area, the options seem to be multipling by the minute! Here are some updates:

  • Mandola's - Opening Summer 2010 near Costco - signs are already up, and construction is well underway.
  • Five Guys Burgers and Fries - Opening Summer 2010 near Costco - signs are up, and there appears to be progress.
  • Kerbey Lane - Opening late Summer or Early Fall 2010 near 24 Hour Fitness - Kerbey Lane has leased the old Village Inn / DiMassi's space and is trying to open by the end of summer. And 4 people are already waiting outside for…
